When I started this blog in 2012 I thought my life was over and I said in this ‘About Me’ section that “I used to be a physical therapist.” Now, I’m back to work as a physical therapist with an ENTIRELY different perspective and treatment methods.

I had a massive stroke at the age of 30. It’s a lot more common for a young person to have a stroke than anyone thinks. I could’ve taken a continuing education course about strokes but I decided to have one instead. I’m getting a much better education this way.

  • Heel Raises (calf raises)

I tried to explain to someone the importance of this exercise and strengthening this muscle. This will strengthen the gastrocnemius and soleus muscles, the calf muscles.  These muscles, when contracted, will plantarflex the foot(point the toes).  So when you do… Read More ›

  • Blocking

Sometimes the muscle you want to contract isn’t the one that contracts when you try to perform a movement.  This goes for both orthopedic stuff and neurologic stuff.  Way the hell more with neurologic stuff though.  I’m working with someone… Read More ›

  • Curve Reversal

I saw this term the other day doing chart  reviews….When looked at from the side, and you’re looking at someone who is sitting up straight, the spine should look like a backwards ‘S.’  In order to attain this shape, the… Read More ›
